SF TechWeek is officially a wrap!! This year's event was more than three times the size of last year, boasting over 600 events and tens of thousands of attendees. For the Danish American Chamber of Commerce in Northern California, it was a prime opportunity to engage with some of the most cutting-edge trends in the tech world while highlighting opportunities for U.S. and Danish collaboration.
The event featured a wide variety of topics, from AI to startup culture, with something for everyone. Beyond the talks and panels, the social scene was buzzing with activities like biking up to Hawk Hill and back for coffee and baked goods from Arsicault (if that is not enough motivation)! As well as 5k and 10k group runs and endless happy hours - perfect for networking with fellow innovators and investors.
AI, of course, was a theme of many events and the discussions were engaging. However, it was equally clear that AI is a powerful tool across medical fields. One session in particular stood out - The Future of Women’s Health: Opportunities & Challenges. The event was packed. The panel included Tara Vismanthan, CEO & Founder at Rupa Health, Laura Mason Growth Investor at Composition Capital, Dorothy Kilroy CCO at Oura, Alice Zheng Partner at Foreground Capital, and Sylvia Kang Founder & CEO at Mira. Dash Shunina, Venture Capital Contributor at Forbes, was the moderator and she led a lively session on all aspects of women’s health. Women’s Health has become a huge topic and, of course, an opportunity for founders, policy influencers, corporations, politicians and other stakeholders to drive positive change. It is an area where AI, with the right guard rails, can have a significant positive contribution and access to women’s health data is booming.
The many Pitch competitions held during the week were great for founders to get exposure to VCs. Many thanks to all the hosts of these events as it is always difficult for founders to get in front of VCs, especially in person. You can tell that founders are enthusiastic about their businesses and really want to get their story out there.
The SF TechWeek is one of three ‘Tech Weeks’ backed by a16z and others. LA TechWeek follows right after the SF event and then there is one in NYC as well. For our members in Northern California, it’s a can’t-miss event that’s only getting bigger each year.
